Ouch

That's what I have been saying all morning since I completed my 5 mile tempo run.  My arms are so sore.  I guess after doing 45 push-ups (and yes I did the girlie version) and then about 5 minutes of plank work in abs class yesterday, my arms are sore and so are my abs.  I haven't felt this much pain in a long time and yes, I'm liking it.  Makes me feel like I did something.

On to how my tempo run went down.  I managed to get out of bed at 5:55 this morning.  Thank you bladder for forcing me to get up so I wouldn't wet the bed.  I sluggishly got dressed and took my happy/sleepy butt outside.  As predicted it was warm at 6:05 but a lot better than running in 90 degree hit with the sun shining down brightly on you.

Here's the splits:

Mile 1 - 9:22 - Warm-up mile
Mile 2 - 8:24 - Need to pick up the pace but since I haven't done tempos in a while, wasn't disappointed with myself.
Mile 3 - 8:21 - Trying to pick it up.
Mile 4 - 8:59 - Note, after getting chanced by two dogs, who's owner is screaming at them from across the street, you really have nothing left.  This is what happened during Mile 3, which resulted in this crash during Mile 4.
Mile 5 - 8:46 - Just wanted to redeem myself a little.
Total miles - 5
Total time: 43:59
Average pace - 8:46
Calories burned: 505 - Which I have already managed to put back on what with coffee (I love me some creamer), toaster apple strudel, and a pack of crackers.  What can I say, I was hungry this morning.

In all honesty I wasn't one bit upset about the run or the pace I tried to keep.  The dogs really managed to put a cramp in the run but I probably would have slowed down anyways, so blaming the dogs is really a moot point.

Tomorrow I have speedwork on the schedule at the high school.  No worries of dogs being over there.  I'm super excited because I haven't been at the track and did speed work like this in a long time, probably sometime last summer.  I might even run in just a sports bra, bring on the memories of cross country practice.  We always ran by the football players in nothing but our little running shorts and sports bra.  Back then I had the body for it, now not so much but at 6 in the morning, not sure I'll be scaring anyone with my out of shape body.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.  I sure am going to try.  I'm going to break down and pick up the first three books of the Harry Potter series.  My hubby has been asking me for a while to get these books, so I'm doing it for him.  I hope they are as interesting as he made them out to be.

Angela :)

  1. Great job on the tempo run. It's been a long time since I read Harry Potter but I think they are a good buy, hope you enjoy them!
