Yesterday I was looking on my local Y's website, trying to determine if they had any classes around 12 that would be worth my time and energy. Well I stumbled across an ab class that just so happens to start at 12 and ends at 12:30. They offer it on Tuesday and Thursdays. Perfect for me. I usually don't run on Tuesdays, so this will be an added bonus to my spin class that I do on Tuesdays.
So today I went and tried it out to make sure I really wanted to do it. Holy hurting abs. In those 30 minutes that I was there, she managed to kill me. I was brought back to life by the mere mention of stretching and seeing the clock read 12:30. It was tough and I enjoyed every minute of it. The class is not big and is full of men but I had a blast. During one of the moves I made a face, you know the I'm in pain kinda face, and the instructor said "I saw that look." I just laughed and said, "This is my what was I thinking doing this on my lunch break look." She laughed. Actually all the men in the room laughed to.
I so can't wait for next Tuesday. One of the gentlemen came up to me after the class was over and said:
Man: "I really do hope you come back next week."
Me. "I hope to be back on Tuesday.
Man. "Well Donnette teaches on Tuesdays and she's tougher and works more."
Me. "Okay thank."
I really wanted to say, "That really makes me want to come back next week." It really didn't scare me all that much because I do know I if I need to take a break or two, then so be it, I'm taking that break.
Tomorrow I have another rest day and then 5 miles on Saturday. I'm hoping to get that run in early in the morning, but my sister's babies are going to be staying at my house and I have a feeling I'm going to have to wait until after my dad picks them up so I can get the run in. I might just go down to the river and run them, not sure what I'll do but you better believe, I'll have those 5 miles done sometime on Saturday.
I'm really enjoying the slow week in running. I'm able to concentrate on other things that I neglect on my body because of the running. Next week I start back on the 4 days of running, so hopefully I'll be able to keep up.
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone.
ab workouts scare me...cause I can't finish them hardly ever when they are really and truly good workouts. granted that's the point I need to work on it!!
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely hard, then I came home and did the Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and OMG are my arms and stomach screaming at me right now.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough but I'm hoping to get the flat stomach I'm going for.
30 min ab workouts intimidate me for sure. but a class full of guys has to be a good class. enjoy!
