So this morning I set my alarm to get up at 6:20 and I actually got up out of bed around 6:23. Not too shabby. I got myself ready to go and headed out doors for an easy four mile run.
Well after about half a mile I spotted some dogs. Let me rephrase this, I got spooked by some dogs. Since I decided to run on all the sidewalks this morning, I didn't take my headheld light with me, so when I ran up on the dogs, they startled me. I should also note here that I need to remember my pepper spray runs, no matter how many times I've run this same path. Anywho, I was going to just go on by them when one of the dogs started running after me. He was growling, snarling and barking at me. I screamed as loud as I possibly could and that startled the dogs just long enough for me to get moving.
If I had my pepper spray this morning, that dog would have been laid on the ground whining because of the pain. I would never intentionally spray a dog but when it gets like that, I will. I also would give the dog a chance to either move on or let me move on but this one was being very vicious and all I could picture in my head was being attacked. Got my heartrate up pretty good.
After I got passed the dogs, the run was pretty much uneventful. I did make sure to run on the opposite side of the street when I came back by, but they were already long gone by that time.
I also tried out my new Saucouny's for this run. I like them but I didn't like the springy feel they were giving off. I felt like I was on a spring board for the run. I'm possibly only going to use those for 5k and 10ks and use my Asics for all my other runs. I'm definitely going to try them next week on some speedwork I have to do, so I'll have a better feel for them come next Wednesday morning.
Have a wonderful Wednesday all. Mine's wet and we spent an hour in the office with no electricity, so mine's not starting off to well, let's hope it gets better.
