Monday I did get out for my 3 mile run that turned into 3.55 miles because the route I chose was a little longer than I anticipated.
I managed to run those 3.55 miles in 29:57 with an average pace of 8:26. It's becoming clearer and clearer that my go to pace is around 8:30ish. I can't seem to make myself slow down any slower.
For some reason, and I should have seen it coming, that getting up in the morning is not working out. I always end up changing my alarm clock and just going back to sleep. I also didn't make it to abs class today at the gym because the hubby called and asked if I would like to have lunch with him. I never hestitate to eat lunch with him because he rarely calls to have lunch. So instead of working out, I ate out with my main squeeze. We had a great time.
Today I had 5 miles on the training schedule with 3 being somewhere around 8:10 or 8:20. I'll break it down mile-for-mile style:
Mile 1 - 9:05
Mile 2 - 8:09
Mile 3 - 8:34
Mile 4 - 8:54
Mile 5 - 9:49
Total time: 44:32
Total miles: 5
Average Pace: 8:54
Calories burned: 508
So as you can see I did a pretty decent job on my warm-up mile. I usually find myself sprinting at the beginning of tempo runs and then sucking breath after the second mile when I get them started. This go around I was dying by the time I hit mile 2 of the run because I haven't done this type of speed work in a long time. I'm very proud of myself though for giving it a shot, I know now what needs work.
I'm happy this week is almost over because I'm ready for some trick or treating and College Football.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Angela :)
Tempo run pacing can be difficult. I always go out in a mad sprint the first mile even though I don't want too.
